An acoustic gain is an improvement in your sound environment. An acoustic gain allows you to improve :
Acoustic gain allows you to reduce reverberation and noise in your room.
When we talk about acoustics, we can also talk about sound insulation. Sound insulation consists in not letting the sound from outside a room “enter” into it (noise from the neighborhood, noise from the room next door, …).
The decibel is a unit of acoustic measurement that calculates the sound power (dB symbol).
2 main formulas exist to measure it:
The sound intensity formula, called LI, is calculated as follows:
I corresponds to the intensity of a sound perceived at a point and I0 is a very low reference intensity, equal to 10-12 Watts/meter². This sound intensity level is expressed in decibels, symbolized by the letters dB.
In addition, a sound pressure level, expressed in dB, is defined as :
p is the sound pressure of sound at a point and p0 is a reference sound pressure.
As explained in the preamble, when we talk about acoustic treatment, we are talking about reducing the reverberation time. The indicator measuring this calculation is called the RT60 (reverberation time).
In an acoustic treatment project, it is advisable to have this indicator before and after treatment. It is the one that will make you understand the noise attenuation you can expect. This is the interest of our acoustic consulting service.
Very often, in our projects, the reverberation time is reduced by 2 or 3. In large rooms, the gain is often more considerable.
Acoustic solutions exist for your hearing comfort: acoustic panels. These are specially designed to improve your sound environment.
There are many elements to take into consideration depending on the solution you want. This is what we explain in our tutorials on :
You will see, therefore, that not all solutions are equal in terms of health and ethics. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
